Rules and Regulations of the Rabais Dollars CAA Program

Rules and Regulations

For the purposes of these rules and regulations, the term “Member(s)” refers to a primary member whose CAA-Quebec membership is in good standing, as well as the other members on their account. Unless otherwise specified, the singular also includes the plural, and the masculine includes the feminine.

1. Rabais Dollars CAA program

The Rabais Dollars CAA program (the “Program”) is a rewards program owned and administered by Automobile et Touring Club du Québec (A.T.C.Q.) (“CAA-Quebec”). CAA-Quebec may unilaterally modify its terms, conditions, and components at any time, including:

  • How CAA Dollars are earned

  • How CAA Dollars are redeemed

  • The products and services offered by CAA-Quebec and the terms of the offer (discount or CAA Dollars)

Subject to applicable laws in Quebec requiring other notice, at least thirty (30) days’ notice will be given to Members in writing, electronically or, failing that, by mail. The notice will set out the old and new rules and the effective date of the new rules.

Program partners determine their respective offers under the Program and the terms and conditions attached thereto, under which Members may earn CAA Dollars and/or discounts, as applicable. It is understood that partners may modify their offers and the conditions attached thereto at any time. CAA-Quebec is not responsible for any offer that is no longer in effect or available or has been modified.

Program partners are determined by CAA-Quebec. Therefore, CAA-Quebec may remove and/or add partners at any time without prior notice to Members. The list of partners taking part in the Program and details of their respective offers, which may be updated from time to time by CAA-Quebec, can be found in the Rabais Dollars CAA section of the caaquebec.com website.

The Program rules and regulations and any amendments or updates thereto are published on the caaquebec.com site, without any further formality or need for prior notice to Members, unless otherwise provided by applicable law. The complete and updated version published on caaquebec.com will take precedence over any other version, and it is the responsibility of each Member to check this site for any changes or updates.

2. Duration

CAA-Quebec reserves the right to terminate the Program at any time, following ninety (90) days’ written notice published on caaquebec.com, without further formality. In such event, Members in good standing at the end of the Program will have one (1) year from the date of said notice to redeem their CAA Dollars for products and services offered by CAA-Quebec. After that time, unused CAA Dollars will automatically be cancelled without indemnity, compensation, or recourse.

3. Conditions of membership and participation and terms of program enrollment

The Program is a privilege of CAA-Quebec membership for the duration of membership. Subject to payment of membership fees, participation in the Program is free for Members. Therefore, any CAA-Quebec Member in good standing automatically participates in the Program.

Only individuals age sixteen (16) or over may be primary Members of CAA-Quebec, and only individuals age fourteen (14) or over may be additional Members of CAA-Quebec, and therefore eligible to participate in the Program.

New Members are entitled to earn CAA Dollars and/or get discounts, as applicable, once they have received their membership card.

A Member who does not renew their membership or whose membership is revoked or terminated may no longer earn CAA Dollars and/or get discounts after the expiration, revocation, or termination of their membership.

Members who do not wish to participate in the Program may choose not to present their CAA-Quebec membership card at partners taking part in the Program.

4. Earning CAA Dollars and getting discounts

Ways to earn CAA Dollars and/or get a discount

Members can earn CAA Dollars and/or get a discount when they present their membership card at a partner participating in the Program, at the time of purchase of eligible products and services. Members can also earn CAA Dollars and/or get a discount by making online purchases from Program partners offering such an online purchase option, where applicable. To do so, Members must go to the partner’s offer page in the Rabais Dollars CAA section of the caaquebec.com website. CAA Dollars or the discount granted, as the case may be, differs for each partner participating in the Program. In all cases, conditions apply to Program partner offers and earning CAA Dollars and/or getting discounts in connection with these offers are subject to compliance with such conditions.

Eligible products and services

CAA Dollars cannot be earned on the following products and services: travel insurance, the portion of the price attributable to the warranty on the purchase of a battery sold by the Battery Service mobile unit or a CAA-Quebec Approved Auto Repair Services Location, gift cards, prepaid cards, international driver’s licences, automobile inspections (Maxi Route, Maxi Route Hybrid and Electric, or Express Route), school safety patrol material (e.g., badge, vest, belt, brochure, logbook, certificate, membership card, guide etc.), vehicle registration and driver’s licence transactions, donations made to the CAA-Quebec Foundation, miscellaneous fees (e.g., administrative, postal, handling, etc.), and various applicable taxes.

CAA-Quebec reserves the right to add or exclude, at its discretion and at any time, products and services eligible for CAA Dollars or discounts.

In the course of promotional offers, CAA-Quebec may offer Members the opportunity to earn CAA Dollars on the purchase of certain products or services or a combination of certain products and services determined by CAA-Quebec at one of the following locations, in accordance with the applicable rules and conditions of issue and participation established by CAA-Quebec:

  • The CAA-Quebec contact centre (1-800-686-9243)

  • A CAA-Quebec Travel Centre

  • caaquebec.com

CAA-Quebec may, but is not obligated to, offer personalized promotions to Members from time to time, based on their purchases or use of CAA-Quebec services. Each personalized promotion is valid only on the account of the Member to whom it is offered and is subject to applicable conditions. The rules and conditions applicable to said promotions and errata, if any, will be set out in the communication announcing the promotion to the Member concerned. The ability to earn CAA Dollars and get discounts, as the case may be, on products and services will be subject at all times to the availability of said products and services during the promotional period as well as to limitations, availability, and stock shortages. CAA-Quebec may limit the quantities of items on which Members can earn CAA Dollars or get a discount. In any given transaction, CAA Dollars can be earned and credited to only one Member account.

Responsibility

It is the Member’s responsibility to present their valid membership card at participating partners at the beginning of a transaction in order to earn CAA Dollars and/or get a discount offered by said partner, failing which the Member will not be able to earn CAA Dollars and/or get a discount thereafter.

Recording

All CAA Dollars earned by additional Members linked to a primary Member are recorded in the primary Member’s account, as the primary Member is responsible for paying for the membership of all Members linked to the account. Thus, when an additional Member makes purchases by presenting their CAA-Quebec membership card, the CAA Dollars are recorded in the primary Member’s account, regardless of which Member earned them.

Balance

A primary Member in good standing and additional Members on the account may see the balance of CAA Dollars earned by all Members on the account (primary and additional) by visiting the Online Account at caaquebec.com, checking the CAA mobile app, looking at the Rabais Dollars newsletter, or calling CAA-Quebec at 1-800-686-9243.

CAA Dollars are added to a Member’s account balance within a variable period of time depending on the tool used by the participating partner to transmit the information to CAA-Quebec after a transaction. It usually takes about thirty (30) days. As a result, the balance in the Member’s account may differ from the actual balance if recent transactions have not yet been recorded.

If a Member believes that the CAA Dollar balance in their account is incorrect or that a situation beyond their control has prevented them from obtaining their CAA Dollars or discount, they must contact CAA-Quebec within ninety (90) days of the transaction in question. Supporting documents may be required if corrections are requested.

Use of CAA Dollars

Any Member linked to an account (primary or additional) can use earned CAA Dollars, regardless of who earned them.

Divorce, separation, and other disputes

In the event of a divorce, separation, or any other dispute that may arise between the primary Member and an additional Member, CAA Dollars will remain in the primary Member’s account at all times, as the primary Member is responsible for paying the membership fees of all Members on their account.

Transfer of CAA Dollars

At the request of the primary Member, CAA-Quebec can transfer CAA Dollars to another primary Member in good standing

Death

Upon the primary Member’s death, the membership and the CAA Dollars in the account will be allocated to the additional Member(s) linked to the account. If there are no additional Members on the account, the primary Member’s membership and the CAA Dollars they earned may be transferred to the person designated by the estate as long as that person is or becomes a CAA-Quebec Member. CAA Dollars will be subject to the same earning and redemption conditions as those provided for in these rules and regulations. Such a request must be submitted to CAA-Quebec no later than twelve (12) months following the date of death of the primary Member, and the designated person must be a CAA-Quebec Member for the transfer to take effect. Satisfactory supporting documents must be provided to CAA-Quebec in support of such a request.

Amount of CAA Dollars

There is no limit to the amount of CAA Dollars that Members can earn.

5. Redemption of CAA Dollars

Each CAA Dollar is equivalent to one (1) Canadian dollar.

Primary use

Unless otherwise specified by the primary Member in accordance with this section, CAA Dollars earned on their account, if any, are primarily used to pay for the renewal of their CAA-Quebec membership (including options) for the coming year, and any excess balance of CAA Dollars is used to pay for the renewal of the membership of additional Members on their account.

To this end, CAA-Quebec will automatically use the CAA Dollars earned in the Member’s account approximately forty-five (45) days before the membership expiry date. The CAA Dollars balance after renewal will appear on the renewal notice. If a Member believes that their actual CAA Dollars balance does not match what is on the renewal notice, they must notify CAA-Quebec within thirty (30) days of receiving the renewal notice.

In the event that a Member does not want the CAA Dollars earned on their account to be used as described above for the partial or full payment of the renewal of their membership and/or that of any additional Member on their account, as the case may be, and wishes instead to retain said CAA Dollars for use for another purpose, they must make such request to the CAA-Quebec contact centre (1-800-686-9243) or a CAA-Quebec Travel Centre no later than sixty (60) days before the membership expiry date.

Redemption of CAA Dollars

A Member (primary or additional) may redeem the balance of their CAA Dollars to purchase, in whole or in part, goods and/or services (plus applicable taxes) offered at any of the following locations:

  • The CAA-Quebec contact centre (1-800-686-9243)

  • A CAA-Quebec Travel Centre

Products and services include but are not limited to an item, gift card, travel package, airline ticket, hotel rental, car rental, insurance, adding options to the Member’s account, or paying for another person’s membership.

CAA-Quebec gift cards are redeemable at the following locations:

  • The CAA-Quebec contact centre

  • A CAA-Quebec Travel Centre

The list of participating CAA-Quebec Travel Centres is available on caaquebec.com. This list may be updated from time to time by CAA-Quebec without notice.

Unavailable product or service

It is possible that the product or service that a Member wants to purchase with their CAA Dollars may no longer be available at the time of the transaction. In such a case, CAA-Quebec will attempt to offer a product or service of equivalent quality or inform the Member of the expected date of availability, if applicable. Otherwise, CAA-Quebec will suggest an alternative purchase.

Eligible products and services may be modified at any time without notice, and CAA-Quebec is not responsible for any products and services that are no longer available.

Cash

CAA Dollars cannot be redeemed for cash.

Limit

There is no limit to the number of CAA Dollars that can be redeemed in a single transaction.

Amount redeemed

The amount of CAA Dollars redeemed cannot exceed the amount of the transaction to which such CAA Dollars are applied. Therefore, no cash back will be granted.

Cancelled purchase

When a Member uses their CAA Dollars to make a purchase and it is cancelled, the CAA Dollars used will be put back into their account. They cannot be refunded in cash.

Verification

CAA-Quebec has the right to verify all purchases made by a Member using CAA Dollars and their compliance with the Program regulations.

Unused balance

If the CAA Dollars balance has not been used during a Member’s membership renewal year, it will be used to pay the cost of their next renewal.

Non-renewal

As long as a CAA-Quebec Member remains a Member in good standing, that Member retains their CAA Dollars. If a Member’s membership has not been renewed for more than twelve (12) months, the CAA Dollars earned on the Member’s account prior to the expiry of the membership will be cancelled within ten (10) days of the expiry of such twelve (12) month period. Written notice to this effect will be sent to the Member sixty (60) to thirty (30) days prior to the expiry of the twelve (12) month period.

6. Return, credit, or refund of eligible goods and services

Return

If a Member returns a product purchased from a partner participating in the Program and for which they earned CAA Dollars, the CAA Dollars earned on such purchase will be deducted from the total CAA Dollars in their account.

Credit or refund

If a Member gets a credit or refund for a product or service purchased from a partner participating in the Program and for which the Member earned CAA Dollars, the CAA Dollars will be deducted from the total CAA Dollars in their account.

7. Transfer of CAA Dollars to another Member or CAA club

Non-renewal

A Member who does not renew their CAA-Quebec membership has the option of transferring their CAA Dollars to another CAA-Quebec Member in good standing. Such a request must be submitted to CAA-Quebec no later than twelve (12) months after the membership termination date.

Moving

A Member who moves to another Canadian province and becomes a member of another CAA club may request that their CAA Dollars be transferred to their account at the other club. They must send a written request to CAA-Quebec accordingly. The CAA Dollars will be transferred to the other CAA club no later than three (3) months following the date of receipt of this notice by CAA-Quebec. No transfer will be made if the Member has redeemed all of their CAA Dollars for CAA-Quebec products and services before moving.

8. Lost or stolen card

In the event of loss or theft of the CAA-Quebec membership card, it is the Member’s responsibility to immediately notify CAA-Quebec. CAA-Quebec will issue a new membership card, and the CAA Dollars in the Member’s account will remain in the Member’s account. CAA-Quebec cannot be held liable for the use of CAA Dollars between the time the CAA-Quebec membership card was lost or stolen and the time CAA-Quebec was notified.

9. End of the Program

CAA-Quebec may voluntarily terminate the Program in accordance with the provisions of these rules and regulations. In addition, in the event that events beyond CAA-Quebec’s control (including but not limited to force majeure, natural disasters, civil unrest, war, or significant changes in economic or business conditions) seriously compromise CAA-Quebec’s willingness or ability to maintain the Program as it then stands, the Program may be suspended or terminated by CAA-Quebec, in whole or in part, and earned CAA Dollars may be cancelled upon prior notice to Members to such effect and may not be redeemed or transferred thereafter.

10. CAA-Quebec’s right in the event of non-compliance

Without limiting its other rights and recourses, CAA-Quebec reserves the right, at any time, to revoke a Member’s membership, cancel a Member’s card, and cancel, without compensation, the CAA Dollars in the account of a Member who commits fraud, abuses the Program, provides false information, or does not comply with the terms and conditions herein. The Member’s CAA Dollars will be automatically cancelled without notice.

11. Applicable law

These rules and regulations are subject to the laws and regulations applicable in Quebec. In the event that any provision of these rules and regulations is declared, in whole or in part, to be null and void or illegal, such provision or part thereof will be deemed to be unwritten and the other provisions contained herein will remain in full force and effect.

12. Personal information and acceptance of rules and regulations

By using their membership card to participate in the Program, each Member acknowledges that they have read and understood these rules and regulations as well as CAA-Quebec’s privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”), and agrees to be bound by these documents. Each Member also agrees that these rules and regulations and the Privacy Policy may be amended by CAA-Quebec from time to time. Each Member authorizes CAA-Quebec to collect, analyze, use, and retain information about their purchase transactions with CAA-Quebec and Program partners associated with their membership number for the purposes of managing, administering, and allocating Program benefits and for conducting satisfaction surveys with respect to goods and services acquired from CAA-Quebec and Program partners.

CAA-Quebec, its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, and suppliers are not responsible for any costs or expenses, claims, losses, or other demands whatsoever arising from a Member’s participation in the Program.

13. Official version

The French version of these Program rules and regulations is the official version and prevails over the English version.

Any inquiries regarding the Program should be directed to CAA-Quebec at 444 rue Bouvier, Quebec City, Quebec  G2J 1E3, supportloyaute@caaquebec.com, or 1 800 686-9243.
