Every tire season has its own special quirks. What’s the word for 2022? Scarcity, of course. This year once again, tire-changing time could be a tough go, what with the general supply slowdown and skilled workers scarce as taxis in a sudden downpour. In other words, it’s that time of year again when CAA-Quebec reminds motorists to reserve the winter tire model of their choice and make an appointment to get their vehicle’s winter boots put on.
CAA-Quebec wants you to support its recommended shops during what could be a hectic season, so make an appointment as soon as possible. The catch phrase for 2022 is “It pays to be proactive!” Making an appointment weeks ahead isn’t just good for your own peace of mind, it helps garages schedule shifts to deal with current worker shortages. Not only that, but that better planning also gives you a head start tracking down the best tires for your vehicle (and how you use it) as well as your driving profile, especially if the tires you need are hard to come by.
And if you want to get the hassle out of the way right now, the fact is that putting your winter tires on early in the fall won’t cause premature wear—it takes a lot of driving at temperatures above 20 degrees to do that. Summer tires on the other hand will lose their grip when the mercury gets down to 7 degrees. There are so many good reasons for you to go ahead and call your garage today.
