Prevent, accompany, protect: 31 years of commitment to Operation Red Nose

Published on December 4, 2024

CAA-Quebec is proud to be a partner of Operation Red Nose (ORN) for the 31st consecutive year. As the holiday season approaches, CAA-Quebec is reminding people of the importance of not driving while impaired and is partnering with ONR to offer free roadside assistance services to beneficiaries and designated drivers.

Every year, the organization supports this life-saving initiative that allows many intoxicated drivers to safely return home without getting behind the wheel. CAA is committed to road safety and makes it a priority to educate motorists about adopting safe behaviours, especially at this time of year when people are out and about at festive events and parties.

The ORN campaign began on November 29, 2024, and will continue until December 31, 2024. For more details or to book a ride, Quebecers are invited to visit the Operation Red Nose website or app.

Employees take action for social responsibility

In addition to our roadside assistance service, employees from several of our departments are taking action by volunteering to offer a safe ride home through ORN. In addition, as part of its program of financial support for social projects, CAA-Quebec has pledged a donation of $50 to ORN for each safe ride home, up to a maximum of $3,000. This meaningful gesture demonstrates CAA’s support for the campaign and encourages people to get involved in crowdfunding for ORN.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with ORN, an initiative that aligns with our mission of educating motorists and raising awareness about road safety. It’s a tangible step we can take to encourage safe driving and helping to reduce tragedies on the roads.”

When will administrative penalties be imposed?

CAA-Quebec continues to actively advocate for road safety, including lobbying for the introduction of administrative penalties for 50 mg alcohol per 100 ml of blood. As mentioned in a brief filed on February 5, 2024, as part of the review of Bill 48, Quebec is still the only province in Canada that does not impose such penalties, despite expert reports confirming that doing so would directly result in fewer alcohol-related accidents.
