Worst Roads 2022: Vote now!

Published on April 26, 2022

CAA-Quebec is launching its seventh Worst Roads in Quebec campaign. The campaign lets road users have their say by voting for the province’s worst road. Good roads benefit motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Whether they want improved safety, increased comfort, or simply a smoother ride, all road users should be heard on this important issue that affects us all. As this CAA study shows, Quebecers pay dearly for the poor condition of their roads.

The 2022 campaign is open for voting until May 26. CAA-Quebec will then publish its infamous top 10 list of worst roads in Quebec and follow up with the responsible authorities.

We get results

The campaign has proven successful: many roads have actually been repaired as a result of our work with municipalities. “The Worst Roads campaign is a prime opportunity for people to express their concerns about the poor condition of Quebec roads and show how much they care about our road network, which is really the backbone of society,” said Sophie Gagnon, Vice President, Public Affairs and Road Safety. “Each year, CAA-Quebec works hard to reach out to the public and raise awareness at various levels of government.”

For example, in 2019, $5.7 million was invested in Montreal’s Boulevard Gouin Est and $1.5 million went into Chemin Craig in Lévis. Those roads are certainly more pleasant and safer as a result! Check out the full list of work carried out on the worst roads from 2021.

What is a worst road?

For many people, “worst road” is synonymous with “potholes,” because they are so conspicuous. But they’re not the only indicators. Other visual cues include:

·         Ruts

·         Cracks

·         Sagging

·         Fissures

·         Erosion

·         Lack of markings

·         Poor or inadequate lighting

·         Anything else that could pose a potential hazard to users

Vote and win!

CAA-Quebec is holding a contest for everyone who votes in the Worst Roads campaign. Each eligible vote in gives you a chance to win 1 of 10 prizes:

·         1 set of 4 Pirelli tires valued at up to $1,000

·         1 of 2 $50 Couche-Tard gift cards

·         1 of 2 $100 CAA-Quebec Approved Auto Repair Services gift cards
