Recruiting School Safety Patrollers

Recruiting Safety Patrollers is also a way of raising awareness of the CAA-Quebec School Safety Patrol program. An information session will help you not only to answer students’ questions, but also to identify motivated candidates.

Organizing an information session for School Safety Patrollers

Here are a few tips to help your information session run smoothly:

  • Try to get the teachers’ permission to hold your information session during school. Students will be more receptive that way.

  • Limit the number of sessions by combining one or more groups. This will also give you a larger pool to choose from.

  • If you hold the meeting outside school hours, make sure people know about it: hand out paper invitations, send emails to parents, and post the information on school bulletin boards or other communication channels.

  • Be imaginative in your presentation while keeping it short and sweet.

  • Invite other patrollers to come share their experience.

  • At the end of the session, hand out the parental consent letter and be sure to let them know when you’d like to hear back from them.
